Are you eating healthy?
With so much information available about how to eat healthy, there is no excuse to
do otherwise. Eating healthy will help you lose weight and help fight off illness.
Make a few changes in your routine to create healthy eating habits. Choose
grilled instead of fried, whole wheat instead of white, and low-fat instead of whole
fat. Add more vegetables to your plate and less starchy foods.
Tips for eating healthy:
- Choose lean sources of protein, vegetables, whole grains, fruits, and sugar-
free beverages.
- Become aware of what your are eating now. Notice how many times you
choose food for convenience, how many fried foods you eat, how much
soda you drink.
- Now that you are aware, strive to really make a choice on the food you are
about to order or buy at your grocery store.
- When going to a restaurant stay away from any menu items that say "fried".
- Stay away from french fries. If you order a sandwich in a restaurant and it
comes with fries, ask for a substitute. Often you can get fruit, cole slaw or
applesauce.
- Generally stay away from fast food "burger" places where it is too tempting
to get a cheeseburger, fries and a milkshake! Instead find a cafe, deli, or
health food store that may have a salad bar with a variety of items.
- Be careful what you drink! Soda will add many calories to your diet no
matter how healthy you are eating! Drink water and you can add a little
flavor by adding a little juice or lemon to your water.
- Try foods that you usually don't eat. Remember it is just a matter of
changing a habit and making new ones. Make it a habit to choose salads
with grilled meats or fish. Make it a habit to choose whole grains instead of
white bread or white pasta. Make it a habit to choose grilled over fried.
Make it a habit to put healthy food in your body!
You will soon have new healthy eating habits! You don't have to starve or deprive
yourself. You will find all kinds of new food that will keep your tastebuds happy!
You should notice changes in your health, digestion, skin and weight. It's all a
matter of creating new habits and a new healthy way of living.
