Lose Weight with a Healthy Lifestyle of Eating Right, Exercise and Changing
Your Beliefs

The quickest way to lose weight is to get in a habit of living a healthy lifestyle by combining
healthy eating with exercise. Try to do some kind of movement at least 30 minutes a day.
Take a walk, ride a bike, do some yoga; do anything to get your body moving.

Be conscious of what you eat. An easy way to do this is to just think of each meal as being
a combination of protein, vegetables and fruit. Vary your protein by eating fish, chicken,
beef, or tofu. Eat a good amount of leafy vegetables each day. Choose a variety of berries
and other fruits - mix them in some yogurt for dessert. Eat oatmeal or brown rice for whole
grains but limit the bread and grains if you are trying to shed pounds.

The third and probably
most important component of losing weight quickly is to evaluate
your belief system. If you are overweight then there must be some emotional reasons that
this is so. Once you become aware of these reasons you can change them.
Here are a few tips for getting on the right track to healthy eating:
  • Only buy nutritious foods to stock your refrigerator and cabinets! Fill it with multi-
colored vegetables, fruits, beans, lean pieces of protein, eggs, olive oil, nuts. This
way you will only eat healthy snacks when you are hungry.
  • When you fill your plate make the greater portion be vegetables and the smallest
portion be the protein. A serving portion of meat should be no more than the size of
    your palm.
  • Eat six small meals a day instead of three regular ones.
  • Watch what you drink.  Beverages can fill you with unwanted calories. Eliminate
alcoholic beverages as much as possible and drink mostly water.
  • Don't eat past 7 or 8pm at night and never right before bedtime.
  • Keep a food diary. Simply make a table on a sheet of paper with columns for the
seven days of the week and rows for six meals. Then record everything you eat each
day. This will force you to be accountable for what you eat.
  • Take a multi-vitamin supplement to assure you are getting all your nutrients.
  • Learn to read labels on food packaging. Be sure to look at the "per serving"
information to calculate how many calories you are eating.
  • Eliminate high fructose corn syrup and enriched food products. Substitute whole grain
    for white bread or pasta.
  • Eliminate processed foods and sugars. Eat naturally sweet foods such as fruit instead.
