Classical Dance

KUCHIPUDI BASICS

30-45 Minute Sessions (Minimum)

In this  Series students will learn : 

  • Basic Posture 

  • Basic steps that include foot work 

  • Stretching and strengthening exercises to increase flexibility and endurance 

  • At Home practice is required 

KUCHIPUDI I

60 Minute Sessions (Minimum)

In this Beginner Series students will learn: 

  • Basic kuchipudi movement terminology/vocabulary 

  • Hand gestures ( Hasta-mudras) 

  • Fundamental foot steps (Adugulu) 

  • Students will complete 1/3rd of their fundamental steps 

  • Emphasis will continue on Posture building, muscular strength and endurance through "Dance Yoga"  

  • At Home practice is required 

KUCHIPUDI II

60 Minute Sessions (Minimum)

In this Beginner Series students will learn: 

  • Development in technique 

  • Completion of all basic steps in different rhythmic meters and pace 

  • Head and neck movements will be introduced 

  • Learning of 2-3 Jathis 

  • Completion of Double hand gestures (Hasta-mudras) 

  • At Home practice is required 

KUCHIPUDI III

60 Minute Sessions (Minimum)

In this Intermediate Series students will learn: 

  • Mastering footwork techniques from I & II 

  • Students will learn more complex & intricate movements (Jaati Jatulu) 

  • Learning Slokams to recite and demonstrate through hand gestures 

  • Developing Short Dance pieces 

  • At Home practice is required 

KUCHIPUDI IV

90 Minutes (Minimum/Week)

In this Intermediate/Advanced Series students will learn: 

  • Study of Abhinaya, interpretive movements and expressions 

  • Mastering challenging movements and creating individual items 

  • Emphasize on perfecting all aspects of dance technique and mastering dance as an fluid art form
